MRS. FORDAHL’S UPDATES

Pre-Algebra

Pre-Algebra is a “new” class this year focusing on building and expanding the fundamental skills needed to excel at Algebra and Geometry. These skills will include understanding real and irrational numbers, solving equations in one and two variables, using functions to model relationships between quantities. Students will better understand the connection between proportional relationships, lines, and linear equations.

Students will continue to strengthen their mathematical foundation. This semester students will be analyzing proportional relationships and extending their previous understandings of operations. Students will use their skills to solve and create algebraic expressions and equations that represent real-life problems.

Geometry -

Welcome to Geometry! This class involves the study of points, lines, planes and other geometric figures as they relate to our physical world. Students will learn to measure geometric figures and their areas and volumes, while developing logic and inductive and deductive reasoning skills.

Financial Lit -

In Financial Literacy, students will learn the basics of money management: budgeting, saving, debt, investing, and giving. Learning these essential life skills will enable students to prepare for life and financial success after high school.

7th Grade Math -

Welcome to Junior High math! This semester the students will be using the number system to analyze proportional relationships, such as a rate of change and percent, and use them to solve real-world and mathematical problems. Students will develop a deeper understanding of integers and rational numbers and how they are used within expressions, equations and inequalities.

Keyboarding 7

Students will learn about their computer, build the foundation for correct typing technique, and gain an understanding of capitalization, punctuation, and numbers keys through contextualized practice and skill-building. They will apply their typing skills in cross-curricular activities and become informed digital citizens.

Last year was my first year to be a part of a Math Team. My favorite part was seeing each student’s desire to learn (especially about math). Everyone worked so hard and we were very proud of you! As teachers, we will do our best to help you prepare and make 2021-2022 even better. Keep working hard and we look forward to this year!
