Becca Forthun

Hi, I am Becca Forthun. This is my fifth year working at HPS and it is my 2nd year as a full-time teacher. I was born, raised, and went to school in Hettinger, ND as did several of my family members. I am honored to have the opportunity to work in the same school my family has been attending since approximately 1918.

I am excited to again be teaching 6th and 7th grade English. We will be utilizing CKLA (Core Knowledge Language Arts) curriculum. “CKLA is a structured educational program designed to teach students reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills while simultaneously building knowledge in subjects like literature, history, geography, and science.” (Per Google co-pilot) We began using this program in Spring 2026 and I am excited to be using it again this year.

In addition to teaching 6th and 7th graders I will be working with 4th and 5th grade students. I am excited for this new opportunity. I look forward to getting to work with all of these students.
