Local Scholarships


Beverly and Robert Fitch Memorial Scholarship – $1,000

  • Submit a transcript, resume, and an essay addressing the following:

    • Future Plans

    • Character

    • To Mrs. Olson by May 11, 2018

 

Night Hawks Drug & Alcohol Awareness Scholarship Program – (2) $250

  • Must be a member of the Night Hawks Drug and Alcohol Coalition

  • Must submit an essay on required topic

  • Due: May 9, 2018 to Kira at the High School Office

Tom Sandgren Memorial Scholarship – $650

  • Requirements: Must be attending a Technical or Trade School.

  • Due: April 1, 2018 to Kim Schalesky, Executive Assistant at WRHS

 

Chris Christman Conservation Scholarship – $500
(See Mrs. Olson for an Application)

  • Due: March 1, 2018 to Gail Froelich, Adams County Soil Conservation District

  • Been active in agriculture

  • Is planning to pursue a career in agricultural/natural resources management/environmental or related field at a two or four year college

  • Resident of Adams County OR attending a high school in Adams County

 

Dacotah Bank Scholarship – $1,000

  • Requirements: Open to students whose families currently have an account relationship with Dacotah Bank, Dacotah Insurance, or the Investment Centers of America located at Dacotah Bank.

Slope Electric Cooperative Scholarship – $500.00

  • Submit a transcript, resume, and an essay addressing the following:

    • Plan for Secondary Education

    • Attitude

    • Character

    • To Mrs. Olson by April 1, 2018….MOVED UP TO: March 15, 2018

  • Requirements:

    • Open to students whose parent(s) or guardian(s) are members of the co-op

  • One $500.00 Scholarship WILL BE given out to a Hettinger High School Senior

 

West River Health Services Scholarships

West River Veterinary Clinic Scholarships

  • Bert R. Berg, DVM Memorial Scholarship – $1,000.00

  • Charles Uecker, DVM Memorial Scholarship – $1,000.00

  • Andress Family Scholarship – $500.00

    • Requirements:

      • Planning to attend a 2-4 year post-secondary, accredited undergraduate degree program or a technical/vocational school with a major in the veterinary, microbiological, agricultural, medical, or animal science.

    • Applications are available from Mrs. Olson

    • Due April 1, 2018

Tanner Strand Memorial Scholarship – Valued up to $1,500

  • See Mrs. Olson for an application.

  • Requirements:

    • Available to anyone attending a two or four year college/university.

    • Based on Need and Merit as determined by Tanner’s Family

    • Due May 15th to Trevor and Carrie Strand

  • Recipient announced in October at the Tanner Strand Memorial Hunt

  • Awarded during the Student’s Sophomore Year of College

Robert Plum Memorial Scholarship – $500.00

  • Submit a transcript, resume, and an essay addressing the following:

    • Career Motivation

    • Responsibility

    • Attitude

    • Character

    • To Mrs. Olson by April 1, 2018

  • Requirements: include a sense of responsibility, a positive attitude, good character, and career motivation.

  • One scholarship will be awarded Freshmen Year, Second Semester

D.J. Shults Memorial Scholarship – Two $500 scholarships

  • Submit a transcript, resume, and an essay addressing the following:

    • Volunteer/Community Services

    • Positive Attitude

    • Plans for Secondary Education

    • To Mrs. Olson by April 1, 2018

  • Requirements:

    • Student must be have a minimum of a 3.33 GPA

    • Attending a four year college or university in pursuit of a bachelor’s degree

    • Have demonstrated a positive attitude towards school, and education for potential success.

  • Two scholarships will be awarded Sophomore Year, Second Semester

Hettinger National Honor Society Scholarship – One(1) $500.00 Scholarship

  • Submit a transcript, resume, and an essay addressing the following:

    • Volunteer/Community Services

    • Positive Attitude

    • Plans for Secondary Education

    • To Mrs. Olson by April 1, 2018

  • Requirements:

    • Must be a Hettinger National Honor Society member.

    • Must have taken an active part in National Honor Society

    • Have been accepted to a two or four year college/university.

  • One scholarship will be awarded Freshmen year, Second Semester

 

Hettinger High School Student Council Scholarship – Three $1,000 Scholarships

  • Submit a resume to Mrs. Kristy by April 1, 2018

  • Requirements

    • Must be a student council member a minimum of two year

    • Have a 3.0 cumulative GPA

    • Be an “active” member in all student council activities and fundraisers.

  • Three scholarships will be awarded Freshmen year, Second Semester

 

Earl and Tillie Rosenow Memorial Scholarship – $400.00

  • Submit a transcript, resume, and an essay addressing the following:

    • Activity in FFA, Agriculture Education, 4-H, and/or FACS classes

    • Plans for Secondary Education

    • To Mrs. Olson by April 1, 2018

  • Requirements:

    • Student must be an active member of FFA, Agriculture Education classes, 4-H, and/or in Family and Consumer Science Classes (FACS).

    • Must have a minimum GPA of 2.0

    • Be going into some area of agriculture or family and consumer science.

  • Scholarship is awarded Freshmen year, Second Semester

 

Lloyd & Marion Schoeder Memorial Scholarship – $300.00

  • Submit a transcript, resume, and an essay addressing the following:

    • Plans for Secondary Education in Accounting or Math related field

    • To Mrs. Olson by April 1, 2018

  • Requirements:

    • Student needs to have an interest in accounting or another math related field.

  • Scholarship will be awarded Freshmen year, Second Semester

 

The Erickson Memorial Scholarship – $300.00 – Has Been Awarded

  • Submit a transcript, resume, and an essay addressing the following:

    • Volunteer/Community Services

    • Positive Attitude

    • Plans for Secondary Education

    • To Mrs. Olson by April 1, 2018

  • Scholarship will be awarded Freshmen year, Second Semester

 

O.Gordon and Elaine Reinke Memorial Scholarship – $500.00

  • Submit a transcript, resume, and an essay addressing the following:

    • Positive Attitude and Motivation

    • Plans for Secondary Education

    • Character

    • Responsibility

    • To Mrs. Olson by April 1, 2018

  • Requirements:

    • This scholarship is to be awarded to a student who will be furthering his/her education by attending a post-secondary school.

  • Criteria for this scholarship are based on values that were important to Gordon and Elaine Reinke. These values include attitude, character, responsibility, and motivation.

  • Scholarship will be awarded Freshmen year, Second Semester

 

Jerry “Ed” Hasche Memorial Scholarship – $450.00

  • Submit a transcript, resume, and an essay addressing the following:

    • Plans for Secondary Education in an education field with emphasis including coaching, sports, and/or Athletic Director positions

    • Character

    • To Mrs. Olson by April 1, 2018

  • Requirements:

    • Awarded to a student going into education with an emphasis on sports, coaching, or being an athletic director.

  • Scholarships will be awarded Sophomore year, Second Semester

 

Erling and Jean Dahl Memorial Scholarship – $500.00

  • Submit a transcript, resume, and an essay addressing the following:

    • Volunteer/Community Services

    • Positive Attitude

    • Plans for Secondary Education

    • To Mrs. Olson by April 1, 2018

  • Requirements:

    • Areas of interest would include education, particularly science and math and or pharmaceutical studies as well.

    • Community service as a student at HHS is important as well as the desire to volunteer in the future.

    • Recipient of the scholarship will need to maintain a cumulative college GPA of 3.0 to receive the funds.

  • Scholarship will be awarded Sophomore year, Second Semester

 

American Legion Post #115 Les Bird Athletic Award (male) – $300.00

  • Given by the American Legion Post #115.

 

American Legion Post #115 Gladys Carlson Athletic Award (female) – $300.00

  • Given by the American Legion Post #115.

 

Hettinger Equity Legacy Scholarship – $500.00

  • Submit a transcript, resume, and an essay addressing the following:

    • Plans for the future

    • To Mrs. Olson by April 1, 2018

  • Requirements:

    • Agriculture related field

  • Scholarship will be awarded Freshmen year, Second Semester

 

Nan & Ted Uecker Sr. Memorial Scholarship – $500

  • Given by Uecker Yards, Inc.

  • Submit a transcript, resume, and an essay addressing the following:

    • Plans for the future

    • What you’ve done for others

    • What does Patriotism mean to you?

    • To Mrs. Olson by May 1, 2018

  • Requirements:

    • Scholarship is based on need, academics, patriotism, potential to complete their chosen post-secondary program, and acceptance to that program.

  • Scholarship is awarded Freshmen year, Second Semester

 

Nancy Beth Uecker Memorial Scholarship – $750

  • Given by Uecker Yards, Inc.

  • Submit a transcript, resume, and an essay addressing the following:

    • Plans for the future

    • What you’ve done for others

    • To Mrs. Olson by May 1, 2018

  • Requirements:

    • This scholarship is based on need, potential to complete chosen program, acceptance to any vocational school or college in any field of study, and academics.

  • Scholarship is awarded Freshmen year, Second Semester

 

Geraldine (Gerry) Marion Memorial Scholarship – $500

  • Submit a transcript, resume, and an essay addressing the following:

    • Volunteer/Community Services

    • Positive Attitude

    • Plans for Secondary Education

    • To Mrs. Olson by April 1, 2018

  • Scholarship is awarded Freshmen year, Second Semester

 

Joseph Marion Memorial Scholarship – $500.00

  • Submit a transcript, resume, and an essay addressing the following:

    • Volunteer/Community Services

    • Positive Attitude

    • Plans for Secondary Education

    • To Mrs. Olson by April 1, 2018

  • Scholarship is awarded Freshmen year, Second Semester

 

Les Braaten/Linda Weaver Scholarship – $250.00

  • Submit a transcript, resume, TWO Letter of Recommendation (not from immediate family members), College Letter of Acceptance and a 300-500 word essay addressing the following:

    • Life Goals

    • To Mrs. Olson by April 1, 2018

  • Requirements:

    • It is preferred but not required that the applicant pursue History, Political Science, or the Graphic Arts.

  • The funds will be given after the student’s first semester of school.

 

Delmar & Veronica Svihovec Scholarship -$500.00

  • Student must attend a two-year technical school with emphasis on the trades, mechanics preferred.

  • Submit a transcript, resume, one Letter of Recommendation and an essay addressing the following:

    • Plans for Secondary Education, IMPORTANT

    • Positive Attitude

    • Financial Need

    • The Need for a Strong Work Ethic

    • To Mrs. Olson by April 1, 2018

  • Requirements:

    • Other areas of importance are financial need, positive attitude, and strong work ethic.

    • Student must be a HHS Senior with a “C” average.

    • Scholarship is for $500.00 and will be awarded after the student’s first semester of college.

 

Stan Laufer Memorial Scholarship – $500.00

  • Submit a transcript, resume, and an essay addressing the following:

    • Plans for Secondary Education in an Agriculture related field

    • Character

    • To Mrs. Olson by April 1, 2018

  • Scholarship is awarded Freshmen year, Second Semester

 

National Mutual Benefit Scholarship – $200.00

  • Have a National Mutual Benefit account

  • You will receive a letter in the mail if you qualify for this with instructions and an application.

 

Claude Marion Memorial Scholarship – $500.00

  • Submit a transcript, resume, and an essay addressing the following:
