Hettinger Ag Students Explore Environmental and Natural Resources

On Wednesday, October 14, Hettinger Ag students participated in Environmental and Natural Resources Day at the Hettinger Research Extension Center. The event gave students the opportunity to learn from professionals in the field and gain hands-on experience with a variety of environmental and natural resource topics.

Throughout the day, students spoke with professionals, toured a local honey company, and learned about different aspects of wildlife management and conservation. Activities included setting traps and snares, using radio telemetry to track pheasants, and tasting different varieties of honey.

Students also explored how different land management strategies affect soil erosion and the environment. These activities helped connect what students learn in the classroom to real-world applications in agriculture and natural resources.

The event provided Hettinger Ag students with an opportunity to explore potential careers while learning more about the people, practices, and resources that support their local environment.
