Zero Hour Class Works on GMC Suburban
Mr. Timms’ Zero Hour class is taking on a hands-on project involving two 1999 GMC Suburbans. Students are working to combine parts from both vehicles to create one drivable Suburban.
The students are swapping the engine from one Suburban into the other. They are also using the second vehicle’s good transfer case, driveshaft and interior.
The goal of the project is to build a working vehicle while spending as little money as possible. By using usable parts from both Suburbans, students are able to work with real automotive equipment while learning more about how vehicles are put together.
The project gives students a chance to work on an actual vehicle and gain experience with engine and drivetrain work.
