Student Council Shares Homecoming Week Plans

As Hettinger Public School prepares the upcoming homecoming festivities, the Student Council has released a series of important updates and guidelines to ensure all students are ready to participate. This guide covers the scoring system, event schedule, and logistical details for the week ahead. 
 

 
Homecoming week is highly competitive, with various ways for classes to earn points toward the final standings. Participation is key: 

• Games and Dress-Up Days: Points are awarded based on the percentage of class participation. Students should consult their specific class advisors to review the official rules and game documents. 

• Creative Displays: Points are available for class-themed projects. This includes up to 15 points for posters (covering topics like volleyball, football, and class spirit), up to 50 points for parade floats, and up to 30 points for decorating an advisor’s door. 

• Class Themes: Students are reminded to confirm their official class themes. Information is available through class advisors or by checking the posted sheets in Miss Gummont’s room. 

 
Event Schedule 

• Monday, October 5th: The coronation ceremony will take place in the big gym at 6:30 p.m. Following the ceremony, students will participate in the ceremonial burning of the NH in the parking lot, weather permitting, followed by food provided by the junior class. 

• Friday: The traditional burning of the NH will be held before the football game. Students are encouraged to donate any unwanted old t-shirts to support this event. 

 
Homecoming Dance Logistics 

• Location: The dance will be held at the Armory. 

• Admission: The cost is $5 per student. 

• Schedule: Doors open at 7:30 p.m. Festivities for junior high students run from 8:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., while high school students will celebrate until 11:00 p.m. 

• Guests: Any student planning to bring a guest from out of town must collect and complete the necessary paperwork from Kira. 

• Cleanup: All Student Council members are required to stay after the dance to assist with the cleanup process.
